Ordinary HTML (readability-style) and PDFs with a text layer; scanned/image-only PDFs and PDFs with a missing or garbled text layer are re-read with Tesseract OCR (measured: a 1-page English scan; a Persian slide-deck PDF with no usable text layer; Arabic/Persian OCR via ocr_lang=ara|fas). JS-rendered pages get a headless-Chrome fallback when the static HTML has little text or $00.00-style placeholders (example measured: the Uniswap app's stats page showed real volume/TVL values); sites that answer bots with HTTP 403 are not rendered. robots.txt is respected. Returns title, lang, dir, word count, final URL, optional links, SHA-256 and how it was read (render: static|chrome|pdf|pdf_ocr). OCR covers the first 3 pages; /v1/read/deep ($0.005) does up to 10. Size caps: HTML 5 MB, PDF 20 MB (deep: 25 MB). Options: ocr=1, render=1, ocr_lang. Charged only on success: bad/private URL 400, robots-disallowed 403, too large 413, unsupported 415, no content 422, upstream failure/timeout 502 are NOT charged.
